Welcome to the MTO Summit UK
The premier educational event for technology buyers and sellers in the meetings industry joined Excite! UK’s leading event for exhibitions and events.
With more than 2,500 visitors present at the Excite Show, MTO Summit showcased industry innovation and expertise that is continuing to drive business in the events and exhibitions industry.
Located at Earls Court’s Brompton Hall, the show gave US suppliers and attendees the chance to network with UK prospects, attend a variety of technology seminars, join in hands on workshops demonstrating simple steps to adopt powerful social media tools.
The co-location format with Excite! blended together the best of US speakers and experts into a networking, conference, exhibition, workshop and celebration, and offered the showcase of innovation in the business of events. The event facilitated a workshop on the 25th, and allowed participants to join the Excite! Floor following the morning's education.

In this speech and demonstration, Stephen Nold from MeetingTechOnline, Arran Coole with ASP Events and "Turbo" Todd Watson of IBM will discuss the value and hype of social media. Many associations and show producers are harnessing these solutions to recruit new community members and generate exhibition leads. This is a strategic presentation that will open the audience’s eyes to what can be done with today’s fast, free, and ubiquitous online tools by experts who have a combined community of more than 100,000 connections.

12:40-1:30 PM: Using Social Media to drive attendance
In this presentation, event professionals will have the opportunity to gain understanding of the business value of social media tools, and acquire practical knowledge of how to use social media to market events.
Paul Byrom will discuss how Move It and The Gadget Show, both AEO awards finalists used digital to bring people face-to-face.
This session will discuss steps to use social media to grow attendance for events, and offer advice for using tools to acquire feedback from the event community. "Social media tools can be misused. You could be like the lonely school child who holds a party on the same night as the most popular kid in school." says Arran Coole. "Realise for networking tools to work, you must network as well".
