Company Name: Association of Equipment Manufacturers Job Title: Vice President Exhibitions and Events Email Address: MTanel@aem.org Megan Tanel is vice president of exhibitions of the Association of Equipment Manufacturers (AEM), responsible for overseeing all AEM trade shows, U.S. and globally. She also serves as director of AEM’s CONEXPO-CON/AGG exposition, which focuses on construction equipment and materials. Tanel joined AEM as an exhibits assistant in 1995 and held a series of exhibition-related posts with increasing responsibilities, including exhibits manager and director of exposition services. She was named CONEXPO-CON/AGG director in 2006 and also served as director of AEM’s International Construction and Utility Equipment Exposition in 2007-2008. Tanel has been exhibit operations manager and show manager of the AEM-produced World of Asphalt show and conference, and helped launch the inaugural 2001 show. World of Asphalt has been named to the TSW Fastest 50 list three times since its inception in 2001. She has overseen AEM’s international exhibit pavilions program, which provides turnkey services geared to assisting smaller and new-to-market companies to participate in international trade fairs in Europe, China and Brazil, including BAUMA and INTERMAT. Tanel also served a stint as national sales manager for Loews Hotels, where she helped launch the first-ever House of Blues Hotel, in Chicago, Illinois. She is a member of the PCMA Professional Convention Management Association and IAEE International Association of Exhibitions and Events. She is the IAEE 2009 Education Committee Chair, and a graduate of the IAEE Future Leaders Institute. Tanel has a degree in mass communications from the University of Wisconsin – LaCrosse. AEM is the North American-based international trade group for the off-road equipment manufacturing industry, and its members manufacture equipment, products and services used worldwide in the agriculture, construction, forestry, mining and utility sectors.
